While reading from Path to Freedom, I came across this…

WHAT COUNTS?

The Price of Oil
Compiled by Jenny Rough

10,000 If this many people stopped buying bottled water for one year, enough oil would be saved to fuel four cars for that entire year.

19,387 Number of US soldiers wounded in the Iraq War as of August 14, 2006 (20 percent of which were serious brain or spinal injuries).

10,000 If this many households replaced only one box each of 48-oz petroleum-based powder laundry detergent with a vegetable-based product, enough oil would be saved to heat and cool a two-bedroom apartment for a year.

30 Percentage of US troops that develop mental health problems after returning home.

10,000 If this many people chose just one locally-grown apple instead of an apple shipped across the country, the oil saved could fill the gas tanks of 19 Hummers.

2944 Number of US soldiers killed in the Iraq War as of August 29, 2006.

10,000 If this many mothers chose to keep their baby in a non-disposable diaper over a disposable diaper just once, they’d save enough oil to fill three Olympic-sized swimming pools.

437 Billion US taxpayer dollars Congress appropriated for the cost of the Iraq, Afghanistan and other Global War on Terror Operations.

It sure makes you think…and hopefully take some positive action.

I took my camera for the walk today and took photos…and ….my iphoto program is not importing them! The problem may lie in the fact that earlier this morning I freed up 20 GB of memory on my Mac. I was down to only 384MB only!!! And everytime I started it up I would get a warning of “Hard Drive almost full”. I deleted everything I could think of to free up memory. And only got back some mere MB’s. So I was reading some message boards on Macintosh problems and read about this download that will tell you what size your files are and where they are. I am NOT a computer geek…wish I were. So after using this program called Whatsize, I found that I had podcasts stored on my hard drive in excess of almost 20GB. So I think I also ignorantly deleted some needed files. One thing I know I did wrong was delete ALL my itunes files….I thought it was a duplicate file…now all my songs (all 3,000 of them are gone!).

Anyway…now I have much more memory but am missing all my songs and iphoto…so I’m trying to download a new version of iphoto…all this explanation…Because I have photos to post today…finally.

I better get working this out…
