Memorial Day Weekend!

Posted by mybloomnart on May 27, 2006

Today we get to go here!! It was where we went on our first date…2 years ago already.

HOT…HOT…HOT today….yesterday I had it hard at work…having to sit by the pool for a couple of hours…haha…(I’m being sarcastic). And with summer here I will be getting lots of time off for all my projects! The kids are coming June 5th - 14th and then we will be going up there for a few days. Hopefully, I will be able to visit a couple of friends and see my boys too.

Let the summer begin…have a safe and fun MEMORIAL DAY and remember the veterans!!

Working on self-discipline…that’s a hard one!

With reluctance I did get out of bed before 6:30 am and walked Mattie!

I thought that if I did something I enjoyed doing then I could take the same amount of time doing some chore that I have been putting off. It is called BALANCE Sherri!!! haha

Today’s project

Posted by mybloomnart on May 15, 2006

Today’s word is Bonsai

this is what was made today…it is a rhododendron I found in N.C. growing on the side of a boulder. We cut down a couple of old apple trees this spring and the narled piece of wood is part of one of those.

The walk with Mattie today included a very short chat with an old farmer…the row of flowers I so admire on our walks are a kind of miniature Gladiolus.

I just read this quote on Marit’s blog…it hits home.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most.

We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us.

And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

~ Maryanne Williamson
Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech

Thank you Marit!

Some exciting news!!
These two pieces of jewelry

will be featured in a gallery section of an up and coming book about Making Designer Mixed-Media Jewelry by Tammy Powley.
That just made my day!!

So now I’m all revved up to make things…I am throwing out all the “marketing” BS that says you need to specialize in one thing and concentrate on that. I say Bull-Shit!! There are too many ideas to just limit yourself to one…

Making homemade spaghetti sauce with fresh tomatoes…and herbs from my garden…it has to simmer for a couple more hours…uuummm…Everything is delicious right now!!
